About this Event
The Centre for Eastern European and Eurasian Studies is pleased to invite all Sotonians to 'War, Displacement, and Migration in Eastern Europe and Eurasia', which will be held on Friday 26th of April 2024, from 1.30 - 5.30pm at the Hartley Suite, Building 38, Highfield Campus. This series of talks will be an opportunity to learn about the effects contemporary conflicts in Ukraine, Nagorno-Karabakh and on the Tajik-Kyrgyz border have on local populations.
Professor Jane Falkingham will open the day while Professor David Owen (both from the University of Southampton) will offer closing remarks.
During the event we will have a chance to listen to Professor Jasmine Dum-Tragut (University of Salzburg) talking about the expulsion from Nagorno-Karabakh of the indigenous Armenian population and its impact on Armenia; to Dr Anna Kvit (UCL) offering new insights into the gendered dimensions of Russian invasion on Ukraine and to Dr Alun Thomas (Staffordshire University) historicising the recent clashes on Tajik-Kyrgyz border.
The event will end with a Q&A session and a chance to network over tea and coffee.
