Wanna Talk About Public Housing? [free exploratory workshop]

Description:

In this 90 minute interactive workshop, participants will use creative prompts to reflect on and reimagine the concept of public housing, the topic explored in zAmya’s fall 2025 production of Living in America: The Waiting List is Full. (Note: if you missed the play, you can still attend!)

Through guided exercises and discussion, we'll explore personal, historical, and societal perspectives on public housing and its challenges and potential. This session invites participants of all backgrounds to engage creatively and critically with the spaces we live in, and the policies that shape them.

This workshop is held in the Mary and David Doty Library Board Room (DOTY) on the second floor of the Minneapolis Central Library (300 Nicollet Mall, Minneapolis, MN 55401). Once inside the library, you have two options for getting to the workshop room:

(1) Find the escalator and go up it. Proceed forward and take a left onto the bridge over the atrium. DOTY will be on your right side as you cross the bridge. 

(2) If using the elevator, take the elevator on the east side of the atrium. Go up to the 2nd floor. Upon exiting, hook around to your left. You'll cross a hallway, at which point DOTY will be on your left side.

The doors to the room open at 5:30pm (30 minutes prior to the workshop).
