City Women City Centre Lunchtime Walk
About this Event

This is an opportunity to meet up in person in Birmingham city centre, to share a City Women lunchtime walk - come and "Wander in Wonder!". After so much working from home and so many online meetings, this is an opportunity to walk and talk...

Just being together will be so important... and we'll share a circular walk within the lunch hour, starting and finishing outside Birmingham Snow Hill Station.

So the invitation is to wander in wonder. To join us for a walk. Not any old walk. But a wondering walk. Wander with us on the Birmingham canal. Invite your soul to wonder - quietly or aloud - as we stumble upon landmarks - old and new. Join us as we meander on the canal, from tree to tree. Together, physically distanced, yet in soul proximity. Come on, wander with us in wonder.....!!!

I wonder what your mental map of Birmingham city centre looks like - and how far it extends beyond your regular bus stop or station and your office or favourite cafes or shops... We'll be sharing a Birmingham city centre map drawn by a lover of Birmingham city centre, Raluca Vetor, who's helped to plan our "Wander in Wonder".

In this season of shifting perspectives, you may "wonder" at modes of transport and our "need for speed" as we go at walking pace and use the canal towpath, as well as noticing the road and rail network around us. Or you may "wonder" at the trees which make a statement about sustainability in the heart of our urban landscape. Or you may "wonder" at the impact of meeting in person, after so much separation and online meeting.

Practicalities - timing and footwear and weather:

  • Please arrive on time - we will set off promptly from the entrance to Snow Hill Station at 1:05pm, so that we will be back at Snow Hill before 2pm.
  • Make sure you wear appropriate shoes to be able to walk on the canal towpath, as part of our circular walk.
  • If it rains? We're still walking, whatever the weather - and it's your choice whether you come: if you do, please wear stout footwear and appropriate clothes and you may want to bring an umbrella!

In line with the Covid-19 guidelines, we'll keep two metres' social distance as we walk - and we'll walk in groups of six (with no mixing between the groups). We'll be outside for the whole event, there is no need to wear a mask - although you are free to wear one if you are more comfortable doing so.

Inclusive: This event will be accessible to Christians of all denominations and to people of all faiths and none. All are welcome - just come as you are!

Free - with an opportunity for donations: There will be no charge for this event. However, ChaplaincyPlus relies on donations to deliver our vision to help people encounter the depth dimension of faith and life, so we are giving those who chose to do so the opportunity to support ChaplaincyPlus with a donation, when booking a place for this event, to enable our work to remain open to all.
