About this Event
dir. Petr Slavík / 2023 / comedy, drama / Czechia / EN sub / 113 min.
Karel Jaroš, an emotionally distant man, struggles to care for his mother, who is battling Alzheimer's disease. Driven not by love, but by a sense of duty, he resists the urge to send her to a care facility. In this challenging journey, Karel unexpectedly begins to reconnect—not only with his mother, but also with his estranged teenage son and, ultimately, with himself. A poignant exploration of family, responsibility, and the quiet ways in which we find redemption in the face of hardship. The film recently won the main prize at the Santa Fe International Film Festival (SFiFF) in New Mexico, USA.
Our special screening will feature a Q&A with the film's director and co-writer, Petr Slavík, alongside producer and co-writer Nataša Slavíková.
