About this Event
June 6th will be 50 years since the R-8 bond measure passed enabling the purchase of Lime
Ridge, Shell Ridge, Sugarloaf, and Acalanes, as well as a couple of local community parks.
The Walnut Creek Historical Society will host an event launching a summer long Open Space
History Exhibit. The exhibit will showcase a visual timeline of events and milestones crucial to
the success of the Open Space Foundation’s mission and the preservation of the City of
Walnut Creek’s natural environment. It will also pay tribute to the community participation and
grassroots activism that enabled the purchase of so much acreage.
