Walking With Giants is a community art market and downtown celebration hosted by the Huntsville Arts Initiative, a project of Sam Houston State University’s Honors College and Art Department. The event highlights Huntsville’s growing arts culture through a collaborative evening of music, open galleries, and student and community exhibitions.
This year’s market transforms Rather Park and the surrounding downtown spaces into a hub of creativity and connection, featuring live music, local vendors, senior art student showcases, and open studios with community partners including Splintercraft Artisan Works & Supply, IMERJ Art & Advocacy, and Compton’s Letterpress Artisans Guild (C.L.A.G.).
As part of the event, the “Lineage & Legacy” Juried Show, presented by Angelbert’s Imagination Studios and juried by Angelbert Metoyer, the 2025–2026 Texas State Artist (2D), invites artists to explore the ways heritage, identity, and culture shape creative expression.
The theme reflects the spirit of the event itself: bridging generations, disciplines, and perspectives while bringing together students, artists, and the greater community to make Huntsville a true City for the Arts and a City of 2nd Chances.
