A walk looking at the engineering marvels of Hanwell in West London - including two projects by Brunel and London's longest canal lock.
About this Event

Join Footprints of London guide Rob Smith for a walk looking at the engineering marvels of Hanwell in West London. On the three mile walk you’ll get a close up look at Wharncliffe Viaduct, a spectacular part of Isambard Kingdom Brunel’s railway network, the longest flight of canal locks in London and another ingenious Brunel scheme to get a railway over the Grand Union Canal. Later in the walk you’ll see some of the buildings from the First Middlesex County Asylum and Rob will talk about what it was like for patients and staff in the hospital during the Victorian period. All this and a George Gilbert Scott church too.

The walk may be a little muddy by the River Brent, so appropriate footwear recommended.
