About this Event
Join the Friends of the Boston Harborwalk, Navy Yard Garden & Art, Inc., and artist Michael Alfano on a waterfront walk in the Charlestown Navy Yard. We will stroll through the Navy Yard with stops at historical buildings and Michael Alfano's sculptures that make up the public art exhibit Of Many Minds. The exhibit consists of 20 sculptures extending from the USS Constitution in the Boston National Historical Park to Mayor Menino Park at Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital. Each of the sculptures has a quote to further the conversation and foster different ideas. The artist expects there can be as many meanings as there are people viewing the art.
We'll plan to meet at Gate1 on Constitution Road at the primary entrance to the Navy Yard. All are welcome, but please only RSVP if you plan to come, as space is limited. We also want to be able to contact you in case of inclement weather. All participants must register in advance. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and bring your own water bottle. The tour has no charge.
A professional sculptor for over twenty years, Michael Alfano creates fine art bronzes, portraits, and monumental works that are figurative-based, philosophical, and evocative. His sculptures are found in galleries, private collections, parks, and museums around the globe.
Navy Yard Garden & Art, Inc. revitalizes and enhances public open spaces within the Charlestown Navy Yard including Shipyard Park through planning, design, programming, and implementation for the benefit of residents and visitors alike.
Friends of the Boston Harborwalk is a volunteer group affiliated with Boston Harbor Now. The group meets monthly to promote awareness, public enjoyment and local stewardship of Boston’s 43-mile Harborwalk. For more information on joining the group, please contact Mike Manning, Chair, at [email protected].
