Our walking tour programme continues, with this instalment focussing on a cultural and educationally focussed district of Victorian London.
A walk exploring the area of South Kensington – once known as Albertopolis - now known as London’s museum district and the story of how it developed from Prince Albert’s vision of an enclave devoted to culture and education, and paid for by the profits of the Great Exhibition of 1851. Includes exteriors of the main museums, the Albert Hall, the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens, the Royal College of Mines and the Royal College of Music.
