This is aimed at older participants but it is open to everyone aged 16+ - men are welcome!Walking Netball is just netball but without running or jumping so it’s a bit easier on the joints. You also have longer to pass the ball and an extra footwork step. It is (supposedly) played at a slower pace and with less contact – additional rules will be implemented to find a suitable level! Again, opponents will be matched by the coach where required. If you want to sit out for a bit, you can – it’s not bootcamp! You take the sessions at your own pace. No pressure!
It is a session particularly for those who are:
• slowing down a little
• new to exercise
• returning to exercise after a while, such as after having a baby
• recovering from or managing an injury
• active but are looking for a low impact sport
• can run but just want to play more netball
• looking for a social activity and not that bothered about netball
We start the sessions with a full body warm-up (and reminder of the rules for complete beginners/returners). Netball is a very technical sport but we don’t expect you to get a hold on everything in your first few sessions so please don’t let that put you off. The warm-up is followed by some ball skill development and maybe a drill or practice to get the mind going or focused on developing a particular skill, including shooting. We then play a game. The coach will match your game level with your opponent so teams are balanced and fair.
We play inside at Buxton Community School Sports Hall (Temple Road, Buxton, SK17 9BA). Free parking is available in the carpark in front of the hall. We’re in the main Sports Hall to the right of the office. Toilets and changing facilities are available inside the centre if required.
All sessions are turn-up-and-play sessions with no need to book.
Each session costs £4 per person (£3 for U19s), please bring the correct change.
Upon arrival, please make sure you sign-in with the coach.
At your first session, you will need to complete an England Netball registration form and provide relevant medical information.
Please come ready to play:
• No jewellery (or taped if it cannot be removed)
• No bracelets/watches/fit-bits (or under sweatbands if can’t be removed)
• Short finger nails
• Hair tied back
• Loose/stretchy clothes
• Trainers with a good tread
• Water

There are currently no Covid restrictions advised by England Netball, but we will modify the sessions so everyone is comfortable. Please do not attend if you have symptoms of Covid-19 (or any other contagious illness!).
