MP Smarter Travel and Havering Council are funding a walking bus for one week starting 15.01.25 for our school. After this, they will be looking for parent volunteers to help take over. We are hopeful that this initiative will help reduce the amount of traffic congestion outside the school at morning drop off.Just like a normal bus with a designated route and stops, a walking bus is a group of pupils escorted by adult volunteers (all have Enhanced DBS checks) walking to school together. Everyone involved wears a high-visibility jacket which enhances the visibility of the group. Walking buses provide a great opportunity for children to exercise, socialise and develop valuable knowledge about road safety. All whilst reducing traffic congestion outside of school gates and contributing to good local air quality.
