๐ฟ CAFAG Walking Club โ Walk #10 ๐ฟ Destination: Burslem Cemetery
๐ Date: Monday 20th October 2025
๐ Overview
Starting at the Whitfield Valley Centre, join us on this urban walk to the historic resting place of Arnold Bennett, the celebrated novelist and playwright of the Potteries.
Our route takes us along High Lane, with views across Burslem, before arriving at Burslem Cemetery. Opened in 1879, the cemetery is a place of quiet reflection, rich in history and local heritage. It is home to striking Victorian memorials, mature trees, and the graves of many notable local figures, including Bennett himself.
This steady-paced walk is suitable for most abilities and offers a chance to enjoy the character of the streets, explore local history, and discover one of Stoke-on-Trentโs most atmospheric landmarks.
