A guided mindful walk through woodlands and fells, stopping to explore creative, mindful, embodied ways to reconnect with nature.
Vanessa Bear is the author of the Wild and Wellbeing Card Deck which offers creative, embodied, and mindful ways to reconnect with nature.
These seasonal guided walks in the South Lake District will feature these. The walks will be the same route at different points of the year, to notice seasonal changes and help you to realign with nature's cycles.
The exercises shared can be simply enjoyed on the day or incorporated into your daily life to continue this sense of connection, belonging, and sense of calm.
Vanessa is a qualified and experienced Mountain Leader, Forest School Practitioner, Psychotherapist, Yoga Teacher, and Wellbeing Coach, each of these inform her walks. Whilst these walks will not be therapy, Vanessa will be facilitating space for nature to act therapeutically.
We shall move with steady ease, taking our time to notice our surroundings and stopping often for connection activities. However, the walk does involve some rough and hilly ground, around 6-7km, but will be adapted en route according to our particular group's speed and preferences. This walk has limited accessibility depending on mobility, as it will be on footpaths with some stiles.
After booking, you will be sent a list of recommended things to bring and wear. You are also encouraged to bring a hot drink and snacks.
These walks will be held at four points of the year: Lammas, Samhain, Imbolc and Beltain. Samhain, pronounced “souen” and means “end of summer”. A time when nature “dies” to give way to Winter to be “reborn” again in Spring, a time of celebration and renewal.
