The Alzheimer’s Association is calling on the DuPage County community to take part in the 2025 Walk to End Alzheimer’s® – DuPage County, scheduled for Sunday, September 14 at Benedetti–Wehrli Stadium (455 S. Brainard St., Naperville, IL 60540). The event kicks off at 8:30 a.m.
“This is a pivotal moment in the fight against Alzheimer’s. We now have treatments that can alter the course of this disease,” said Tom Heneghan, Walk Manager for the Alzheimer’s Association Illinois Chapter. “We invite everyone in our community to form a team, walk with us, and help raise the critical funds needed for families impacted by Alzheimer’s and other dementias.”
A signature part of the event is the Promise Garden ceremony, a powerful experience that honors those affected by the disease. Participants will carry flowers of various colors, each representing their unique connection to Alzheimer’s — whether they are currently living with the disease, caring for someone, honoring a loved one lost, or supporting the cause.
Why We Walk
• Over 7 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease — a leading cause of death in the U.S.
• Nearly 12 million family members and friends serve as unpaid caregivers.
• In Illinois alone, more than 260,500 people are living with the disease, supported by 314,000 caregivers.
