Join us on this guided walk of the entire 18 mile Templer Way route- linking Haytor on Dartmoor to the seaport of Teignmouth.

Walk the historic 'Templer Way' which links Haytor on Dartmoor with the Teignmouth seaport. This will be a group walk led by Dartmoor's Daughter along this 18 mile route, on Saturday 4th October and Sunday 5th October 2025.

we provide an early dinner after Saturday's walk and a light lunch on Saturday. These are included in your ticket.



On Saturday 4th October 2025 we will walk sections 1 - 3 of the Templer Way route:

Haytor Visitors Centre to Stover Country Park: Includes a stunning view all the way down to Teignmouth, plus historic, geology, and transport context for Stover and Teignmouth dock.

Along the way we will explore history, geology, flora and fauna, as well as hear about the restoration of Stover Park which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

Transport will leave Stover Country Park at 9.15am and we will arrive back on foot at approx 3.30 - 4pm for a meal.

Distance: 10.5 miles /17km

Level: Moderate - On moorland and woodland as well as along tracks and country lanes. A reasonable level of fitness is required.



On Sunday 5th October 2025 we will walk sections 4 - 6 of the Templer Way route:

Stover Country Park to Teignmouth dock.

Leaving Stover Country Park at 7am (to ensure we catch the low tide) and arriving in Teignmouth for light lunch at a pub . Transport will be provided back to Stover Country Park.

Please bring change for a drink at the pub as we do not provide this.

This section will include a short ferry ride at Shaldon.

  • Distance: 16km
  • Level: Moderate following The Templer Way, includes paths, roads, and the Teign Estuary shore which is very uneven and can be slippery after rain and high tide.

A reasonable level of fitness is required.

Along the way we will explore history, geology, flora and fauna, as well as hear about the restoration of Stover Park which is funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund.

This walk will be led by Dartmoor's Daughter : Emma Cunis aka Dartmoor's Daughter creates walks and nature-connection experiences to enhance health, wellbeing, and performance. She is a qualified Hill & Moorland Leader (HML).

WHAT TO WEAR/BRING: Sturdy walking boots; warm layers; sunscreen; waterproof jacket and trousers (whatever the forecast); walking poles if you have them; drink/flask and snack or picnic lunch.

This walk is for people aged 18 years and over.

Assistant dogs are permitted by prior arrangement only.

1 well behaved dog on a lead per walker is permitted by prior arrangement and only if you do not require assistance with transport to the start or from the end of day two (we cannot take pet dogs on mini bus or in taxi).

Tickets are in tiered prices of £25 or £35 for the two days and include your guided walk, two evening meals, transport to the start and from the finish and your Shaldon ferry ticket. Please pay what you can afford.

We have a small number of bursary spaces available for those that cannot access this walk due to financial difficulties. Please email [email protected] for a bursary ticket.

Please note parking is £4 per day at Stover Country Park. We encourage you to car share, use the bus or walk/cycle.

Routes are subject to change due to weather damage or other route closures out of our control.

CANCELLATION: The event will go ahead come rain or shine. Refunds will only be issued if the walk is cancelled due to extreme weather conditions.

This event is part funded by the National Lottery Heritage Fund as part of the Restoring Stover Park project enabling tickets to be affordably priced.
