About this Event

Walk on the Wild Side - Victoria Park & Welford Road Cemetery
Tuesday 13 August at 10am
Meeting at the memorial 'Arch of Remembrance' on Victoria Park
Between 90 mins - 2 hours , steady pace

A Walk on the Wild Side in Victoria Park and Welford Road Cemetery is hosted by an experienced wildlife expert who will lead you around these green spaces, pausing to talk about the different types of insects, plants and animals found here. This steady-paced walk is a great way to relax while discovering a little about nature in the city. Welford Road Cemetery has some uneven paths and steep slopes, please wear appropriate footwear. Public toilets available in Victoria Park. Please allow time to make your way to the start of the walk

Information about the pace of our walks, what to wear/bring, the weather and much more can be found on our City Council Group Walks page.

New Walkers

If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk online or by phone. You will receive an email with a link to the online form in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).

Dress for the weather

Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:

• Comfortable sturdy footwear

• Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain

• On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket

• On hot days we recommend a hat and sunscreen

• Please bring a bottle of water with you.

Group size

We ask walkers to book in advance so we can keep our group sizes manageable.

Self-guided routes

If you have been unable to book onto one of our group walks, or you prefer to explore with your family or friends, self-guided routes are available to download from the routes page of our Choose How You Move website or via the Go Jauntly smartphone app. For other ideas, do check out our Walk Inspiration page which features walk videos and quiz trails. Enjoy exploring Leicester on foot.
