A 12-mile walk starts with a stroll over the bridge, onto Red Hook and Industry City with an optional detour to the Greenwood Cemetery.
Join us for a fun-filled day exploring the best of Brooklyn on foot!
Get ready to discover the hidden gems and iconic sights of this vibrant borough as we **walk 12 miles** together. From the bustling streets of Red Hook to the picturesque views of the Brooklyn Bridge, this event will be an unforgettable experience.
Our journey will start at the **Oculus World Trade Center** on **Sun Oct 20, 2024** at **9:45 AM**. Don't miss out on this opportunity to see Brooklyn in a whole new light!
Choose where to start with us: Manhattan or Brooklyn
1. Meet at the Apple Store in the Oculus at 9:45 am. Together, we'll stroll through lower Manhattan and over the Brooklyn Bridge to meet up with others there.
2. If you prefer to join us in Brooklyn then meet at 11 am at: Cafe Arabica, 20 Old Fulton St., Brooklyn (base of the bridge) . If it takes us a bit longer from the Oculus, please hang out and wait - we will get there.
Once all together, we continue along the waterfront to Red Hook and onto Industry City. Some of these areas are a bit "gritty" but surely interesting. We can hang out at Industry City for a while to eat, drink, shop and explore - then head to the Brooklyn Ferry Terminal to catch a ride back to Wall Street. At this point it's your choice.... If you'd like an interesting detour you can walk to Greenwood Cemete1ry and stroll through the graves of some "famous" folks. From there it's easy to catch the subway.
If you do not go to the cemetary, then from Industry City it's just another few miles walking to the Brooklyn Ferry Terminal for the boat back to Wall Street.
For our NJ folks, from Wall St. we walk back to the Oculus for the Path train back to Exchange Place, or wherever you need to be.
Difficulty: Moderate pace of 3-3.5MPH and stops.
Terrain: City streets.
Start and Finish: described above - your choice. We are leaving extra times for rest stops.
This walk may sound a little complicated, so if you have questions please reach out to Risa at: [email protected], text/call/201-618-5582. If texting be sure to leave your name.
