About this Event
Enjoy a friendly group walk from the city centre through pleasant city streets finishing at The National Gas Museum. This linear (one-way) walk takes around 1 hour (2 miles) at a steady pace. There is a bus stop near the museum for direct return to the city centre afterwards. An opportunity to visit this small, quirky museum and look back in time at the gas-fired domestic appliances used in the homes of yester-year. Allow about 1 hour for the visit, although walkers may prefer to spend longer.
Museum entry is free and toilets are available. Please note – the museum is an old building and only the ground floor is wheelchair accessible. Explore your travel options on the Choose How You Move journey planner. This walk is free to attend but places must be booked.
Meet at the High Cross Monument in Jubilee Square.
New Walkers
If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk online or by phone. You will receive an email with a link to the online form in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).
Dress for the weather
Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:
• Comfortable sturdy footwear
• Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
• On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket
• On hot days we recommend a hat and sunscreen
• Please bring a bottle of water with you.
Group size
We ask walkers to book in advance so we can keep our group sizes manageable.
