About this Event
From Abbey Park, join us for a pleasant summer walk along the scenic River Soar as we head to beautiful Belgrave Hall, which will be open to look around. The walk is 45 minutes (1.5 miles) each way, or 1.5 hours (3 miles) in total, at a steady pace.
Walkers have up to 1 hour of free time to explore the historic hall and gardens and rest, before the walk returns to Abbey Park, finishing back by 2pm. You may bring your own light refreshments to enjoy in the grounds. Toilets are available in Abbey Park and at Belgrave Hall. Due to timing, our visit does not include a guided tour of the Hall. This walk is free to attend but places must be booked.
Note: You may choose to leave our walking group at Belgrave Hall to spend more time there or to join one of the official guided tours. Open House guided tours must be booked independently through Leicester Museums & Galleries website. Belgrave Hall is open from April to September on every Wednesday and the first full weekend of each month from 11am - 4.30pm. Belgrave Hall is close to bus routes, for return by public transport.
New Walkers
If you have not walked with Leicester City Council before we will ask you to complete our Walker Registration form in advance of the walk online or by phone. You will receive an email with a link to the online form in the days leading up to the event. You only need to do this once and can attend any of our walks thereafter (subject to booking a place on Eventbrite).
Dress for the weather
Remember to dress appropriately for the weather. Our group walks will go ahead in most weather. We recommend the following:
• Comfortable sturdy footwear
• Bring a raincoat or umbrella in case of rain
• On cooler days wear appropriate layers and a coat/jacket
• On hot days we recommend a hat and sunscreen
• Please bring a bottle of water with you.
Group size
We ask walkers to book in advance so we can keep our group sizes manageable.
