Join us as we honor Sophia Studer on her birthday by walking/running 3.12 prayerful miles at the 5th Annual Walk in the Light event. Walk in the Light is an event to bring education, awareness and funding to local mental health and suicide prevention resources. Support for this event will help us to provide vital resources and services to those who are struggling with mental health issues and may be at risk for suicide. With your help, we can work towards reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness and promoting a culture of understanding and support.
There will be a course set up all day in The Highlands neighborhood, starting and finishing at the pool / tennis courts. We encourage the community to come together to create signs of hope, resilience, inspiration, and memories of not only Sophia, but also for loved ones we have lost to suicide, suicide survivors, and those battling with mental health.
If you are not able to attend in person, we would love to see you virtually! Walk or run your own 3.12 miles, post pictures on social media and include #DoItForSophia in your post copy.
5 - 7:30 PM: Suicide prevention and mental health resources and information set up outside the Highlands Sales Center.
5:30 PM: Welcome announcements and introduction of mental health resources.
6 PM: Official start time for the in-person walk.
7:30 PM: Lantern release / luminary lighting / prayer around lake
