**Join Us for Our Biggest Fundraiser Event of the Year!**Prepare to lace up your sneakers and hit the beach for a cause close to our hearts. The 2024 Walk for the Kitties is almost approaching, and we're thrilled to ask you to join us at Jericho Beach on September 8th, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. for a 5k fun walk.
Why Walk for the Kitties?
VOKRA (Vancouver Orphan Kitten Rescue Association) is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization committed to rescuing, healing, and finding forever homes for cats and kittens in need. Each year, we rescue approximately 1,400 animals and provide them with the care and love they need. But we can't do it alone; we need your help.
Here is what your support means:
2023 (January 1–December 31): We received 1,008 cats, including strays and service-ins (spay and neuter services for low-income cat owners).
2024 (January 1 - July 31): We've already accepted 607 cats, including stray and service animals. (spay and neuter services for low-income cat owners).
Veterinary care contributes to around 70-75% of our costs, therefore every donation is crucial to our mission's success.
Our Goal: $100,000
This year, we've set an ambitious goal of raising $100,000 at the Walk for the Kitties event. Every dollar contributed directly benefits our rescue operations, allowing us to save lives, provide medical treatment, and ensure that every kitten gets a loving home. Your involvement, whether via walking, contributing, or spreading the word, has a tremendous impact on the lives of these vulnerable animals.
How You Can Help:
Register for the walk: Sign up and commit to raising donations for VOKRA. Invite your friends, family, and coworkers to sponsor or join you on this fun-filled day.
Donate: Can't make the event? You may still help us by making a donation. Every gift, large or small, helps us get closer to our $100,000 target.
Spread The Word: Share our event on social media, inform your friends and family, and urge them to participate or give. Together, we can make this year's Walk for the Kitties the most successful yet!
