Join us for a beautiful countryside walk at Downs Banks, one of Staffordshire’s most scenic National Trust sites. Known for its rolling hills, woodlands, and streams, this walk offers stunning views across the Trent Valley and a real taste of the local landscape at its best.
Our route follows forest trails and open pathways, taking in woodland, bridges, and gentle streams — a perfect mix of peaceful nature and rewarding views. This steady-paced circular walk is suitable for most abilities and provides a refreshing escape into the great outdoors.

📍 Meeting at CAFAG: 9:15am

📏 Distance: 3.5 miles
⏱️ Duration: Around 3.5 hours (including breaks)
🌱 Terrain: Forest trails, gravel paths, steep inclines, gates & bridges
👟 Footwear: Sturdy walking shoes or boots recommended
👕 Clothing: Suitable for the weather and outdoor walking
Things to note:
🐄 Cows may be roaming freely (they’re friendly!)
💩 Watch out for cow pats
🐕 Some dogs may be off-lead
🐾 Dogs
Dogs are welcome, but must be:
✔️ On a lead at all times
✔️ Well-behaved around people and other dogs
✔️ Under owner supervision
✔️ Cleaned up after
🐕 Please note: Dogs should remain outside the Centre prior to departure.
☕ Facilities
There’s a café halfway along the route.
🚻 No toilets available on site.

Our walking club is free to attend, but small donations help support future walks, parking, minibus use, and refreshments (tea, coffee & biscuits).
