Learning Objectives
To be able to understand respiratory mechanics / physiology and link it to clinical practice
To be able to manage common invasive and non-invasive ventilation modes in neonates
To be able to apply information from available monitoring parameters to improve outcome
To be able to prevent, identify and manage adverse events related to ventilation
Programme
a) Lectures:
Lung mechanics and respiratory physiology
Basic modes of Neonatal Ventilation
Pulmonary graphics
Less Invasive surfactant administration; optimising non-invasive respiratory support
B) Workshops – choice of basic or advanced topics
Basic: Blood gases, Problem solving in mechanical ventilation, nCPAP, HFNC, LISA, Ventilatory strategies for common conditions.
Advanced: Cases with pulmonary graphics, HFOV, HFOV with VG, nHFOV, NIPPV.
Pre-reading will be available prior to the course and slides available for a time period post-course.
