Directed by Richard Linklater, is a philosophical, dreamlike exploration of consciousness, free will, and the nature of reality. Presented through rotoscope animation, it follows an unnamed protagonist who drifts through a series of vivid encounters and conversations with strangers, intellectuals, and eccentrics. These exchanges delve into existential topics such as the meaning of life, the illusion of time, and the interplay between dreams and waking reality.
As the protagonist gradually realises he may be dreaming and unable to wake, the film becomes a meditation on perception, identity, and the possibility that life itself might be a dream.
