📱 Why Do We Track Our Periods?
Period apps offer more than just tracking. Understanding why someone tracks their period reveals a lot about who they are, who they aspire to be, and how they spend their lives and seek change. These apps are often central to our relationships with ourselves and our closest loved ones.
Two years ago, following the overturning of Roe v Wade, Judith Zoë Blijden launched a public philosophy project to examine autonomy in our digital age. She will share her research and insights on the evolving role of period apps and their broader implications for personal agency in the digital landscape.

About the Speaker
Judith is a dedicated advocate for ethical tech and digital rights. Currently at Hooghiemstra & Partners, she focuses on the legal and ethical dimensions of technology, with a strong emphasis on human rights and democracy. Previously, as Senior Policy Officer for Digital Transition at the Sociaal-Economische Raad (SER), she evaluated the effects of AI on the economy and the future of work.
Judith founded The Digital Period, a public philosophy project exploring our relationship with technology. Her 2023 investigation into autonomy and privacy in period-tracking apps, recognized by the Landecker Democracy Fellowship, continues to raise public awareness through her podcast series.
