DESCRIPTION: Join our tour guides from the Institute for Oral History at Baylor University for the annual Black History Walk in downtown Waco. We will learn about African American History in Waco, including topics such as education, religion, the arts, and more. The walk will begin and end at the McLennan County Courthouse (501 Washington Ave) and will last for approximately two hours. WALK LENGTH: Approximately 2 miles

ACCESSIBILITY: We will be walking mostly on streets and sidewalks, but you should be prepared to negotiate curbs and grassy patches.
HYDRATION: Please bring your own water.
DOGS: Dogs are welcome, but they MUST be on a leash, and you MUST come prepared to scoop the poop! Also, dogs may not be allowed inside buildings.
WEATHER/CANCELLATION PLAN: We plan to walk rain or shine, so if it looks like rain, bring an umbrella. Due to the high amount of grass along the route, if it has rained previously, we recommend wearing shoes to account for this. In the event that there is a terrible storm or something happens and we have to cancel, we will send out a note to the email list.
