Gallery on Queen is pleased to announce the upcoming exhibition 'Wabanaki 2022,' which showcases the works of various Indigenous artists. The 'Wabanaki 2022' exhibition is an annual celebration of Indigenous People's Day and it honours the heritage and strength of Indigenous artists and the various art forms they practise. We are proud to have this opportunity to feature works from many East Coast Indigenous artists in the Wabanaki Territories of Atlantic Canada. Join us for the “Wabanaki 2022“ opening event, Friday, June 3rd from 6:30 - 8:30 pm. We are excited to have Alan Syliboy and the Thundermakers open the ceremony with a live performance.
The Wabanaki people, also known as the People of the dawn, are the easternmost tribes of Turtle Island, also referred to as Northeastern woodland tribes. Their culture and language have been in existence for over 10,000 years. Mi'kmaq, Wolastoqewik, Penobscot, Passamaquoddy and Abenaki are the member tribes: Tribes that have endured the most prolonged and earliest contact with the new man on this continent.
Gallery on Queen is proud to host this outstanding, immersive installation. The Exhibition will be up until June 30, 5pm.
