Want to help your teen understand what budgeting is really like? Join us for this fun, free workshop, where your student will experience a real-life simulation on managing money!
Free lunch and refreshments will be provided. Plus, each participating student has the choice of receiving Orlando Solar Bears hockey tickets or Central FL Zoo tickets!
Workshop is intended for ages 13 - 18.
Parents/guardians/chaperones are required to stay the duration of event.
What students will learn:
- The importance of having a money plan
- Budgeting basics
- Spending, saving and sharing wisely
- The cost / impact of credit
Here is how the event works:
- Free parking in the GEICO Garage(5th floor) then enter through the GEICO Bridge and then you'll be escorted to Hourglass.
- 9am - 9:30am: Check In
- Upon arrival students are given a new identity (occupation, income, etc.)
- Next students are provided clip boards with budgeting worksheets, pens and calculators
- The VyStar team provides a brief overview and instructions to students of the simulation
- Simulation starts and the students visit 11 stations (including car, home, grocery buying, etc.)
- Upon completion, students will recieve a certificate + special VyStar swag
- Free lunch and refreshments provided for parents and students
Kia Center Information
- Arrive through the GEICO Bridge for check in and then you'll be escorted to Hourglass.
Parking Information:
- Free parking in the GEICO Garage on the 5th floor. (400 West South Street, Orlando, FL 32805)
- We suggest allowing extra time for parking due to road closures from a morning 5k event.
- Event parking at the GEICO Garage is valid until 1:30p.m.
Kia Center Policies:
- Bag Policy - Bags are not permitted at Kia Center events. Guests are permitted to bring one small clutch that is 4.5" x 6.5" x 1" or less. Medical and parent bags (max. 14" x 14" x 6") are exceptions but will be subject to X-ray at designated locations for entry to Kia Center.
- Prohibited Items
- Outside food and beverages are not permitted inside the arena. However, individual exceptions to this policy can be made for medical purposes.
