About this Event
This experience will take place in Vanderbilt’s simulation lab and will focus on four key skills: airway management, ventilator management, central venous catheter insertion, and simulation training. During the airway management station, learners will be taught how to approach securing airways using mannequins, basic and advanced airway devices. Direct laryngoscopy and video laryngoscopy will be available. During the ventilator management station, learners will be introduced to ventilator physiology and ventilation settings will be emphasized. This will be interactive and will utilize ventilators to demonstrate the effects of various ventilator modes. Ample time will be available to review multiple vent modes and their clinical applications. The central venous catheter insertion workshop will provide hands-on instruction of central line placement. Learners will have the opportunity to utilize ultrasound to practice mannequin cannulation, stepwise approach to vascular access, and exposure to vascular access devices (CVC, Dialysis catheter, and introducer catheter), will be emphasized. Finally, for the simulation training , this session will utilize interactive scenarios that will divide attendees into smaller groups to work through as many as 3 different simulations. These simulations will focus on critical thinking and interventions essential to critical care. Boxed lunch will be provided.
