๐ We are so excited to welcome the acclaimed Voyager Reed Quintet to the Arboretum on February 19th at 12:00! ๐ถ๐ฟEclectic and versatile, the Voyager Reed Quintet was formed in Brooklyn, New York, in the summer of 2022. ๐โจ Inspired by the golden records aboard NASAโs Voyager spacecraft, their mission is to explore the shared humanity of our players and audiences through music that breaks stylistic boundaries. ๐๐ผ They love blending genres, from jazz, popular music, contemporary classical, and older pieces reimagined for the reed quintet medium. ๐ท๐บ๐ป
Since its inception, Voyager Reed Quintet has performed across the Northeast, with highlights including performances at The Juilliard School, the Imani Chamber Winds Music Festival, and Lincoln Centerโs โSummer for the Cityโ Concert Series. ๐ญ๐ถ For 2024, they received the Ensemble Forward Grant from Chamber Music America, supported by The New York Community Trust, to expand their mission through community outreach and new commissions. ๐โจ This season, theyโve commissioned composers Kevin Day, Andrew List, and Mara Keen. ๐๏ธ๐ผ
Voyager also recently made its international debut at the ICA conference in Dublin, and was a semifinalist at the 2024 Fischoff Chamber Music Competition! ๐๐ As highly sought-after educators and clinicians, they've been invited to give masterclasses and concerts at institutions like Boston Conservatory, Cornell University, Ithaca College, University of Delaware, and SUNY Oneonta. ๐๐ค
We are thrilled to welcome them to the Longview Arboretum! ๐ฟ๐ถ
