Charles Dickens is back on tour with a staged reading of his seasonal smash hit, A Christmas Carol. But even the classics have to keep up with the times, don’t they?
Dickens’ story is one of the all-time greats. One Christmas Eve, the mean old miser, Ebenezer Scrooge, is visited by a quartet of spirits who force him to confront his past, present and future. Will he change his ways and embrace the true spirit of the season, or will he be damned for all eternity?
Charles wants to simply read the book, from cover to cover, to a grateful and receptive audience, just as he did in 1858. His agent has other ideas. Would it K*ll him to add just a little sparkle, spectacle and - dare we say - showbiz?
