The League of Women Voters of the Tennessee Valley, the Alabama Disability Advocacy Program, RevUp Alabama, Huntsville Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, New Disabled South, Lift Our VoteAlabama, and the League of Women Voters of Alabama Education Fund are co-hosting a Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW) event on Saturday, September 13, 2025, from 12–4 p.m. at Lowe Mill Arts & Entertainment (2211 Seminole Dr. SW, Huntsville, AL 35805), in the First Floor Connector Space. Additional Community partners supporting this event include the Girl Scouts of North Central Alabama, the Alabama Institute for the Deaf and Blind (AIDB), the National Federation of the Blind of Alabama, Alabama Arise, ACLU Alabama, and others.
The 2025 National Disability Voting Rights Week (DVRW) is a nonpartisan movement hosted by the American Association of People with Disabilities and REV UP to talk about advocacy, celebrating community, and building power. DVRW was created by grassroots disabled activists. DVRW is a cross-disability, cross-movement week of action and celebration.
What is the purpose of Disability Voting Rights Week?
Through DVRW, we want voters with disabilities to …
Think: My vote matters and voting is one way that I can use my power in my community.
Feel: Solidarity with a broader community, supported to access their right to vote.
Do: Register to vote, make a plan to vote, support a friend in registering, educating, and voting!
Through DVRW, we want election officials, poll workers, and nondisabled people to …
Learn about the barriers that disabled voters face.
Learn what actions they can take to make voting more accessible.
Recognize the power of the disability community and the importance of building accessible systems.
Engage the disability community during this week of action and in every election cycle.
