About this Event
Welcome to Democracy Brewing: Meet Suzanna Shkreli
The 2026 elections are coming fast. Are you ready to be heard?
Join us for a special Democracy Brewing event with Suzanna Shkreli, hockey player, former prosecutor, state leader, and candidate for Michigan Secretary of State, as she sits down for an unscripted, community-driven conversation about voting rights, democracy, and what’s at stake in 2026.
The daughter of Albanian immigrants who fled authoritarianism, Suzanna was born and raised in Michigan, where she grew up working in her family’s restaurant and playing ice hockey. She served nearly a decade as a Macomb County prosecutor — with much of that time focused on crimes against children — and later held key roles in Governor Whitmer’s administration, including Deputy Legal Counsel, Director of Juvenile Justice, and Lottery Commissioner.
Suzanna brings a rare blend of legal grit and public service leadership, and she’s ready to protect the votes and voices of Michiganders across every corner of the state.
At this event, Suzanna will:
- Share her vision for making Michigan’s elections more secure, accessible, and transparent
- Explain in plain terms how all elections are run and protected in Michigan
- Offer practical, nonpartisan tips for voting in 2026 — including how to register, vote early, and ensure your ballot is counted
- Answer questions directly from attendees — either live or anonymously submitted
- Engage in real dialogue about how to strengthen democracy at the local level
There are no speeches or scripts — just real talk over a pint in a welcoming, brewery setting.
Free and open to the public. Great food and drinks available for purchase.
Bring a friend. Bring your questions. And bring your voice.
