About this Event
HeadCount, the nonpartisan, nonprofit voter registration organization, announced its partnership with the City of New York’s Civic Engagement Commission and Tony’s Chocoloney in honor of National Voter Registration Day. HeadCount harnesses the power of music, culture, and digital media to encourage people nationwide to participate in democracy. As part of the National Voter Registration Day celebrations on September 20th, the NYC Civic Engagement Commission and HeadCount will host activations in Union Square Park and Washington Square Park from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. to celebrate the tenth year of this powerful nonpartisan civic holiday.
Everyone is welcome to visit either location to check their registration status and register to vote ahead of the midterm elections this November. Those who visit Union Square Park will have the opportunity to experience live music and mobile community center/public art experience, The People’s Bus, provided by The City of New York. HeadCount’s partners Tony’s Chocolonely and Guayaki Yerba Mate will also be in Union Square to help call attention to the midterms and promote civic engagement by registering voters through employee volunteers, product samples, and a democracy-themed chocolate truck supplied by Tony’s Chocolonely.
