For four decades, Vopli Vidoplyassova (VV) has been Ukraineās ultimate cultural ambassador, with anthems sung by heart by every Ukrainian. As the first Ukrainian band to tour internationally and gain global fame, their music has crossed borders, bringing the spirit of Ukraine to the world through their explosive fusion of punk, rock, and folk.
From the Soviet underground to global festival stages, VV has shaped the sound of generations and remains a symbol of Ukrainian identity and resistance. They made history performing at WOMAD, Sziget, Montreux Jazz Festival, Woodstock Poland, and Rock am Ring. Over the years, VV has collaborated with world music icons like Goran BregoviÄ, Manu Chao, and Khaled, continuously pushing boundaries. Their influence is undeniableāEugene HĆ¼tz of Gogol Bordello calls them his musical teachers, a legacy now featured in a recent Gogol Bordello documentary.
Beyond his work with Vopli Vidoplyassova, Oleg Skrypka is also the founder of Kraina Mriy, one of Ukraineās oldest and most influential festivals. A platform for cultural exchange and the development of new Ukrainian artists, Kraina Mriy has also become one of the most credible charity organizations supporting hospitals and other vital Ukrainian causes.
