About this Event
are typically non-native plants or animals that have the ability to spread quickly and overwhelm native ecosystems. Typically they are successful in "invading" an ecosystem due to the lack of natural predators in these non-native habitats. As such, eventually invasive species deprive native species of limited natural resources necessary for survival.
is one of many of the invasive plant species threatening native grassland habitats and the birds that rely on them at . Upon arrival, attendees will meet USFWS Visitor Services Specialist, Gabriela (Gabby) Youngken, in the Central Parking Lot (not the Visitor Information Center.) Volunteers will assist USFWS staff by pulling invasive garlic mustard while also learning about the native species harmed if left unmanaged.
