About this Event
Are you passionate about making a positive impact in the lives of youth? Have you heard about restorative justice and are curious about it? Come hear about an upcoming volunteer opportunity to lead restorative circles with youth who are placed at the Tulsa County Family Center for Juvenile Justice.
We welcome volunteers from all walks of life who:
- Are empathetic, patient, and nonjudgmental.
- Are good listeners and strong communicators.
- Have a passion for working with youth or an interest in restorative practices.
- Are available to commit to scheduled circle sessions (flexible dates and times).
Volunteers will work in the detention center to co-facilitate restorative circles with RJIOK staff and the young people. The intention is to create a safe and structured space for youth to express themselves, reflect on their experiences, and work toward healing and accountability. These circles are essential to fostering personal growth and creating a sense of community for individuals navigating the justice system. RJIOK will create the agendas/circle guides which will structure each session.
If you are still interested in this opportunity after attending the information session, the next step will be to be trained as a facilitator at a future date.
