About this Event

Are you interested in learning more about or joining the work we do as FBC organizers? Join us from 11am-1pm on Sunday, May 5 at Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands for an open conversation about volunteer opportunities with our chapter. There will be time to learn and time for you to share your interests and skills with us. We will be meeting outside the classroom, whihc is the large black building with an overhang south of the parking area. Please dress for being outdoors!

It is important to us to make sure that we continue to take care of one another during our in-person events. We plan to follow current health guidelines. Masks are optional for this event, but we encourage people to bring a mask for close social interactions. This meeting is limited to 25 people. If the event is sold out, please add your name to the wait list as spots often open up. We require all participants to follow our .


Directions: The Rainier Beach Urban Farm and Wetlands is located at 5513 S. Cloverdale Street, Seattle WA 98118. Access the farm through the drive-in gate on Cloverdale Street or through the walk-in gate that is at the northeast corner of Be’er Sheva Park- there is parking on site. We’ll be meeting outside the classroom, which is the large black building with the overhang to the south of the parking area.

Accessibility Notes:

  • The pathways onsite include paved surfaces, crushed gravel, and wood chips.
  • This location is in an area of the city that has some hills, but the overall space within the Farm & Wetlands is level. Some paths have a gentle slope.
  • There is a gravel parking lot inside the farm, with space for about 30 cars. There is also street parking available, usually within a couple of blocks.
  • There are benches at the farm and chairs available that can be moved to any location around the site.
  • There are gender neutral bathrooms with ADA accessible stalls available.
  • Electricity and water are available in the classroom.
  • Transit options: There is a bike rack on site , and stops nearby for MetroTransit buses #7 and #106.

We will be hosting volunteer interest events on April 28 at Green Lake Park, May 5 at Rainier Beach, and a third time virtually. You need attend only one of the three to get involved.
