This event is located at our office near Burnaby Lake at 6825 Cariboo Road, Burnaby, BC and will run on Sunday, April 28 from 10 am - 2 pm.
Stream of Dreams Murals Society is a Canadian charity that delivers our award-winning 'Fish on Fences' program to educate elementary school children about protecting our streams through a unique science to art process.
We are asking for help to prepare supplies for upcoming 2024 school programs.
This will include:
- Garden planting
- Cutting and bending wire ties that are used for attaching our wood fish to fences;
- Cutting up towels for brush blotting; and
- Putting iron-on transfers on bags
- sorting/preparing some brushes
There will be other small tasks to help us get ready for our busy spring and summer seasons as well. No experience is necessary - just bring your enthusiasm (and wear clothes that can get a bit dirty)! We'll provide all the materials and guidance needed. If you have garden gloves and an extra shovel that would be great, but we do have these supplies as well. If you happen to have any old towels that can be cut up we would welcome you to bring them too. We will have some goodies and drinks but please bring your own lunch (microwave and fridge available).
Further into the season there will also be opportunities to volunteer with our in-school programming, which is an excellent way for prospective teachers to accumulate their necessary volunteer hours and receive experience working with K-7 classes. See our other listing for more details. We encourage anyone interested to also come by on March 28 for an opportunity learn more about our program and meet our staff.
Our driveway is somewhat hidden - look for the orange cones on either side of our chain link fence along Cariboo Road. If taking transit, we are about a 10 minute walk from the Skytrain at Production Way/ University or right next to a bus stop for the 101. Just come in the big front door when you arrive.
