About this Event
Volunteer Day - Heathland Creation on Kincorth Hill
Join the Countryside Ranger Service for this hands-on conservation event at Kincorth Hill Local Nature Reserve. By planting heather, we will encourage regeneration of important heathland habitats, which will benefit many of the hill's species.
Our activities will focus on:
- Heather planting: we will be planting heather that has been translocated from other sites within the city to create new heathland habitats.
- Gorse Removal: using saws and loppers, we will cut back invasive gorse, which is encroaching upon the heathland and outcompeting other native flora.
This is a fantastic opportunity to learn about the hill's ecosystems, meet like-minded people and make a tangible impact on preserving Kincorth Hill's natural beauty.
