Join Historic Macon and the Fringed Campion Society for an after work cleanup session in Oak Ridge Cemetery. After our cleanup efforts in May, weeds and invasive plants took over the previously burial sites. Thanks to the new city contracted landscaping crew, and the dedication of a few key volunteers, this section of the cemetery has been cleared yet again. That means it's time for us to do our part and tend to these sacred final resting places by pulling weeds and uncovering headstones.Oak Ridge shares an entrance with Riverside Cemetery. Turn off Riverside at the gatehouse entrance, and continue on down the driveway. You will pass through the open gates of Oak Ridge. Our workday will commence at the bottom of the hill.
Guidelines will be provided on the proper ways to contribute and to the "Adopt A Plot" program per the city's requirements. Dress appropriately, bring small hand tools (if you own them) and your work gloves. HMF will supply snacks and tools from the Tool Library. Come check out the labors already in progress and the continual needs to be filled!
