This October, join us for a community service project with just a touch of Halloween spirit! Barton Heights Cemetery is one of Richmond’s historic resting places, and while it carries a quiet, spooky charm this time of year, it also deserves our care and respect. Together, we’ll be giving back by cleaning up and restoring sections of the grounds so this piece of local history can shine again.
Volunteers will help with:
Removing trash and debris
Clearing overgrowth, small trees, and bushes along the fence line
Hauling accumulated brush
String trimming
* Uncovering long-hidden grave markers
All tools and gloves will be provided. Please dress for outdoor work: hats, long sleeves, long pants, and sturdy shoes are highly recommended. Sunglasses and sunscreen are also encouraged.
Come ready to roll up your sleeves, enjoy a fall day outdoors, and help bring a little light back to this historic (and slightly spooky) spot in our community.
This event is free for members and non-members! Please claim a ticket on our website though as space is limited.
You can claim a ticket and confirm your spot here(https://tryingtoadultrva.com/volunteer-cemetery-clean-up/).
Parking: Please park along the road on the Lamb Avenue side of the cemetery, or along Welford Street or Minor Street.
