
About this Event
The Heritage Rose Garden is a testament to the Guadulupe River Park's dedication to preserving rare and iconic roses, with a goal to share in teh community knowledge, appreciation, and stewardship.
Ticket sales, rose adoptions and sponsorship contributions go towards the volunteer programs that steward the Heritage Rose Garden and projects like the newly revealed signage, painting of the storage shed, and adding new storage facilities.
Overview:
- The 30 Anniversary Celebration will consist of volunteering in the Heritage Rose Garden and ending with a celebration surrounded by the beautifully blooming roses.
- This sign-up is for volunteers only. Volunteers who register here must submit a completed Volunteer Service Agreement in order to volunteer.
- All are welcome to the celebration, which will include special speakers, opportunities to support and learn more about the Heritage Rose Garden, and of course, food and drinks!

What to Know before Volunteering:
Please note that the minimum age to volunteer for this event is 14 years old. Adult chaperones are required to attend with individuals age 15 and under. In addition, it is required for all volunteers to read and sign our . Individuals under 18, must have a guardian signature. Please email a digital copy to [email protected] or provide a printed copy on the day of.
We will be completing a wide variety of seasonal tasks including planting, weeding, deadheading, mulching, and pruning, among others. No gardening experience is required; we are happy to teach you on site!
We will be meeting at the Heritage Rose Garden Shed to kick off the volunteer service event; the address will take you to the Seymour Street parking lot. From the parking lot, follow the paved path into the park, past the gate and picnic area, and the shed will be on your left.
Volunteers are asked to arrive by 9:30 AM for a contactless sign-in; workday instructions will follow. We provide all necessary tools and have gloves to borrow. If you prefer to use your own pruners, loppers, or gloves, feel free to bring them to the event. The workday will run through 10:30 AM, although it may be shortened due to inclement weather such as rain or extreme heat (seasonal). We are unable to accommodate drop-ins if the event is sold out. School groups and corporate teams must contact the Volunteer Coordinator in advance to schedule events.
In addition, please note that:
- Restrooms are a short walk from the garden and will be available starting at 10:00 AM
- We highly encourage you to bring a full, reusable water bottle
- Closed-toed shoes and clothes you are comfortable getting dirty are required
- We highly recommend wearing sunscreen and bringing a hat
- Inclement weather may cancel this event; we will contact you should conditions require the event to be postponed
