About this Event
Civic Works' Real Food Farm needs delivery drivers (or cyclists) for the Affordable Produce Delivery Program (APDP). APDP provides fresh local produce delivered weekly to the older adults (55+) of Baltimore City at a reduced cost.
We need volunteers who:
- are available Wednesday afternoons starting at 12:00PM or Thursday or Friday mornings starting around 9:00AM (exact start times are flexible)
- can give 2-3 hours
- have a vehicle that can hold 5-10 boxes of produce (each box is about 15"x11"x7")
- are able to lift 15 lbs, and walk up and down steps
- have a working cell phone with bluetooth/hands-free calling capability and GPS
Drivers need to:
- sign up for 2 or 3 hour shifts
- A 2-hour shift has an average of 5 boxes
- A 3-hour shift has an average of 10 boxes
- have a personal mode of transportation (car or bike with ability to haul 2+ boxes, no hauling in backpacks)
- If using vehicle, be insured & licensed
- start and end at Civic Works Firehouse (1749 Gorsuch Ave in 21218)
If you represent an organization or company that would like to volunteer as a group, please contact our volunteer coordinator Harper Czumak-Daugherty at [email protected] so we are better able to accomodate your group.
Volunteer days are rain or shine. Please only sign up for what you can 100% commit to and let us know ASAP if you do not plan to attend so we can open your space to someone on the waitlist.
Please plan to arrive on time!
Volunteers will be required to sign a waiver upon arrival and each individual in your party must be signed up to attend.
We gladly accept one-time volunteers for this role, but those who can commit long term to weekly or bi-weekly deliveries are preferred!
