A thrash metál legendák visszatérnek: a 40 éves Voivod ismét Budapesten!A Voivod a 80-es évek egyik legegyedibb zenekara, eredeti hangzásuk mellett a lemezeik köré épített sci-fi történetek jelentik a zenekar vonzerejét. A kanadai csapat tavaly ünnepelte 40. születésnapját, a legendák pedig Budapestre is visszatérnek június 7-én, a Dürer Kertbe. A Voivod az amerikai sludge metált játszó Crowbar is érkezik, akik tavaly adták ki új lemezüket.
Kevés zenekar éri meg a negyvenet, még kevesebben teszik ezt méltósággal, és még ennél is kevesebben vannak azok, akik jóval a legendás státusz elérése után is újabb magasságokat érnek el.
A Voivod soha nem hasonlított más zenekarra, ahelyett, hogy beálltak volna a sorba, inkább felforgatták a szcénát és megváltoztatták a normákat.
Egyéniségük és kreativitásuk mind a mai napig egyedülálló.
A hardcore punk, a 70-es évek progrock és a brit újhullámos heavy metal megjelenése által mélyen befolyásolt Voivod egy igazán eredeti hangzás megteremtésére törekedett, s ezért egy olyan egyedi stílust építettek fel, melyben a szövegek témái ötvözték az akkori hidegháborús politikát, a posztapokaliptikus irodalmat és a sci-fit.
2018-ban megjelent tizennegyedik albumukat, a The Wake-et a zenekar a nyolcvanas évek végének fénykora óta megjelent legjobb albumának tartják, ezzel is megerősítve bebetonozott helyüket a metál legegyedibb és legsokoldalúbb zenekarai között. A tavaly kiadott 15. albumuk, a Synchro Anarchy a megjelenés hetében több országban is Top10-ben nyitott az albumeladási listákon.
A srácok legutóbb 35. jubileumi turnéjukkal jártak nálunk, s most két pillanattal később máris túl vannak a 40.
szülinapi turnéjukon is. Néhány tagcsere és az őrülten tehetséges Piggy 2005-ös elvesztése után is ugyanazzal a kezdeti lelkesedéssel és lendülettel zúznak a színpadon, a koncert után az ember sokáig nem akar majd más zenét hallgatni.
A Voivod az elmúlt 25 év alatt (először 1999-ben léptek fel nálunk) végigjárta Budapest szinte összes klasszikus klubját az Almássy téri Szabadidőközponttól kezdve az E-klubon, a régi Dürer Kerten és a Wigwamon át a Petőfi Csarnokig, úgyhogy itt az idő, hogy az új Dürer Kertet is végre felavassák. A heavy metal kanadai képviselői tavaly tartották alakulásuk negyven éves évfordulóját, de nyugdíjba vonulás helyett inkább tovább csinálják azt, amihez a legjobban értenek: metál legendákhoz méltóan zúznak a színpadon.
A Voivod ráadásul nem akármilyen társaságban érkezik: a sludge metálban pionírnak számító, 33 éve aktív Crowbar lesz a társuk, akik tavaly jelentették meg 12. Stúdióalbumukat Zero and Below címmel.

The thrash metal legends return: the 40-year-old Voivod are back in Budapest!
Voivod are one of the most unique bands of the 80s, and their original sound and the sci-fi stories built around their albums are the band's appeal.
The Canadian band celebrated their 40th
anniversary last year and the legends return to Budapest on 7th June at the Dürer Kert. Voivod will be joined by American sludge metal band Crowbar, who released a new album last year.
Few bands make it to 40, even fewer do it with dignity, and even fewer are those who reach new heights long after achieving legendary status. Voivod have never been like any other band, instead of joining the ranks they have subverted the scene and changed the norm. Their individuality and creativity is still unique today. Deeply influenced by the emergence of hardcore punk, 70s prog rock and British new wave heavy metal, Voivod sought to create a truly original sound, and to this end they built a unique style, with lyrical themes that combined Cold War politics, post-apocalyptic literature and science fiction.
Their fourteenth album, The Wake, released in 2018, has been hailed as the band's best album since the heyday of the late 1980s, confirming their cemented place among metal's most unique and versatile bands. Their 15th album, Synchro Anarchy, released last year, opened in the Top 10 album
sales charts in several countries the week of its release. The guys were last here with their 35th anniversary tour, and now, two moments later, they're two years into their 40th birthday tour.
Even after a couple of member changes and the loss of the insanely talented Piggy in 2005, they still rock
the stage with the same initial enthusiasm and drive, and after the show you won't want to listen to any other music for a long time.
Voivod have toured almost all the classic clubs in Budapest over the past 25 years (their first appearance was in 1999), from the Almássy Square Leisure Centre to the E-Club, the old Dürer Kert, Wigwam and Petőfi Csarnok, so it's time for them to visit the new Dürer Kert too.
