Time for a get together!It has always been our intention to organise regular catch ups with our VOID families, but as the months press on, our busy lives take over and time gets away from all of us.
Well, that time is now! How does a lovely Sunday lunch sound?
We are proposing Sunday, 29th September 2024 at around 12.00pm. It will be after the SANFL grand final and well before Christmas when everything goes crazy.
Carmel has tried to explore some venues with reasonable parking availability, but this has proven difficult. So - until we find a few more options (open to your ideas by the way - as long as they are reasonably central and have access to parking) this time around, let's stick with our usual haunt:
The Elephant Castle

They are more than happy to accommodate us and generally serve up a lovely lunch. Kitchen opens at noon, so we would love to see you there.

We would like to take the opportunity to have a chat about VOID and what people are interested in exploring - your ideas and thoughts on how our families might be better served in the future - including the International Worker Memorial Day Service.
We have a wonderful bunch of regulars who turn up every year to help with crafts and preparation for the IWMD day in April, but we would also love to welcome any newcomers who would like to take up a more active role and share their brilliance and creativity with us.
As some of you may know, in 2023 I was appointed to sit on the SafeWork SA Advisory Committee. This may be a good opportunity to bring you up to date on some of the changes that will be happening for families impacted by a workplace death.
As a practicing lawyer in this space, it may also be a good opportunity to chat about those of you in the workers compensation space - especially in relation to commutations of weekly payments.
We would love to get some updates from you on:
• Navigating SAFEWORK SA,
• Understanding your rights under the:
Return to Work Act 2014 (SA);
Work Health and Safety Act 2012 (SA);
• How can VOID better support new recently bereaved families?
• How can we better support children through their loss?
You do not need to be a member of VOID or affiliated with VOID to attend this lunch. Just please do let Carmel know by RSVP.
