Join Dr Mike Paki who will share some of the histories – the ‘voices’ – of prominent Whanganui places of interests. We will meet at Roto Kawau, before visiting locations such as Pukenamu, Kowhai Park, and Landguard’s bluff. The kōrero will support kaiako to share the histories of Whanganui with their tamariki.Attendees will hear a bicultural perspective of prominent Whanganui locations that are often well-known to tamariki. The learning from the hikoi can be shared with children and fellow
kaiako, contributing to a centre’s bicultural and localised curriculum.
This PLD is suitable for any teacher, of any age group, who teaches in the Whanganui area.
There will be a follow up session on Tuesday, 25 February between 6-8pm with our very own Tiffany WIlliams at our Learning Centre, 232 Wicksteed Street, Whanganui. This extra session will give kaiako a chance to share how they have brought
the histories of Whanganui into their education spaces in an informal, learning-focused wananga.
