About this Event
Join us for an inspiring and deeply human afternoon in the Patricia A. Whelan Performance Hall at the Central Library in Calgary. This special event features Edmonton-based author and mental health advocate Leif Gregersen and Calgary writer and speaker Tamara Thomas as they share powerful, firsthand stories of living with and recovering from schizophrenia.
Through honest conversation and lived experience, Leif and Tamara will explore the complex realities of psychosis, the challenges of receiving a diagnosis, and the difficult yet hopeful path toward long-term recovery. Both speakers have transformed their struggles into creative work and public advocacy-Leif as the author of several books on mental illness, and Tamara as the writer of Too Far From the Path, a memoir of her own journey through psychosis and resilience.
This event is ideal for mental health professionals, students, peer support workers, individuals with lived experience, and anyone who wants to deepen their understanding of schizophrenia beyond stereotypes and stigma. Come away with a renewed sense of empathy, insight, and hope.
