The Illinois Holocaust Museum & Education Center has created a groundbreaking new exhibition Spagat Family Exhibition: Voices of Genocide which will open on May 1.
A first in the field of genocide memory and education Voices of Genocide features firsthand survivor and descendants of genocide testimonies. Accounts from Armenia Guatemala Bosnia-Herzegovina Rwanda and Burma will be highlighted in this exhibit exploring how and why genocide continues to occur across the world.
Voices of Genocide will be framed by five zones or galleries that address multitudes of genocides throughout history and geography while exploring the definition of genocide. Guests will leave this exhibit with a better understanding about the common conditions and warning signs that can lead to genocide and how recognizing these factors helps determine efforts towards intervention and prevention.
