When you hear a survivor’s story, history stops being distant. It becomes personal.
Author and oral historian Arwen Donahue has spent years recording the lives of Holocaust survivors who resettled in Kentucky as part of a statewide oral history project. In this powerful talk, she shares what it’s like to sit face-to-face with those who lived through one of history’s darkest chapters—and to help carry their stories forward.
Arwen reflects on the emotional weight of bearing witness, the complexity of capturing memory, and the remarkable resilience found in every conversation. Attendees will hear excerpts from survivor testimonies and explore why preserving these voices matters now more than ever.
Step into a conversation that bridges generations—and keeps memory alive.
Psst.. Complimentary notebooks and pens will be provided for those who wish to take notes or reflect during the event.
For ages 12 and up. Just drop in!
Space and supplies will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.
This event is part of our Americans & the Holocaust Exhibit series.
